This scholarship is awarded annually to a high school student enrolled at Person High School, Person Early College for Innovation & Leadership or Roxboro Community School who plans to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
The Roxboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will award one $1,000 scholarship to commemorate the legacy of Mrs. Esther M. Harper, a lifelong educator and alumna of North Carolina Central University and Saint Augustine.
Application information will be available via our website and the respective schools' guidance counselor office during the second semester. If you are interested in making a donation to support deserving students in Person County, select the Contact Us button below.
Electronic Application
Students who wish to submit their information electronically should have a Google (Gmail) account.
There are several documents that will need to be uploaded as PDFs during the process.
These files should be uploaded separately and easily retrievable since the application process must be completed once started. The documents that students will need to submit are as follows:
(1) A one-page summary emphasizing your academic path, your specific financial needs and how receiving this scholarship might contribute to your achievements.
(2) Official high school transcript which includes grade point average and class rank.
(3) A copy of acceptance notification from your college choice or statement from your counselor indicating that you have applied to your college choice.
(4) Letter of recommendation from a school member or community leader that is not a relative.
Deadline is March 15, 2024.
Based on past experiences, we strongly encourage students to make a copy of the electronic application and keep a copy for their records. We are hoping that this will resolve any technology issues that students may encounter.
Note: This scholarship is for any student who is not directly related to a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
